A service-based initiative at the Guelph Food Technology Centre (GFTC) to continuously develop FANbase and its online directory (here) to benefit the Functional Food and Natural Health Product (FFNHP) sector. An initiative to work in collaboration with existing organizations in the area of FFNHP. An initiative to explore the needs of and provide services to the Ontario FFNHP sector.

FFNHP is a growing area of interest in the global agri-food community. It is a concept based on the ability for foods and supplements to contribute to human health above and beyond basic nutritional function. Western countries have embraced new FFNHP substances as revolutionary products and an expanding market has emerged. Consumers are increasingly choosing healthier foods and non-prescription supplements, thereby creating one of the fastest growing trends in the food industry: health and wellness.

This directory is searchable by Nature of Organization category headings (i.e. Business Enterprise, Research Network), by Type of Activity category headings (i.e. Functional food, Natural Health Product, Processing) and by word match to text provided by each member of the directory in the organization description and the products and services description fields.

Are you a part of the FFNHP sector and should you be in this directory?
Organizations that should add themselves to the FANbase Ontario directory:
- Have an Ontario address for their business
- Are operating within any stage in the production or development of a Functional Food, NHP, Nutraceutical, Cosmeceutical or Nutricosmetic (regulation, research, development, production, agriculture etc.)
- May not deal directly with FFNHPs, but would provide a description of their experience working in the FFNHP sector
How information you provide will be used:
When entering your information in the sign up page, your responses to questions in the top section of the page will be reviewed for inclusion in the publicly searchable area of this online directory. In the bottom section of the sign up page, all questions are OPTIONAL. Any information you submit in the bottom section will not be made public. This information will be used in an anonymous fashion to determine trends and activities within the sector.
The information you enter in the top section of the sign up page may be published and presented electronically and in hard-copy in locations deemed responsibly by the GFTC to be of value to organizations listed here and to the Ontario FFNHP sector as a whole.
